2,445 Individuals Contribute to Giffords’ People-Powered Campaign
Giffords Raises $291,531 in Second Quarter ‘06, with $588,210 Cash on Hand
TUCSON - Demonstrating the strength of her people-powered campaign, Gabrielle Giffords for Congress announced today that 2,445 people have contributed to the former State Senator’s campaign for a new direction in Washington. Giffords’ campaign has raised $861,938 overall, with $291,531 raised in the second quarter of 2006. With $588,210 cash on hand, the campaign is well-positioned to prevail in the September Primary election and to win the November General election. More people have donated to Giffords’ campaign than have signed a petition for any other Democratic or Republican Congressional candidate in CD-8.
- 75% percent of contributions in the second quarter were from first-time donors to the Giffords campaign.
- 1,256 people contributed to the campaign in the second quarter, totaling 2,445 contributions from individuals overall.
- 87% percent of the people who donated in the second quarter are from Arizona, and 70% of the people who donated are Southern Arizonans.
- The average contribution size in the second quarter was $188.
- Over 300 volunteers have taken action to spread Gabrielle Giffords’ message for a new direction in Washington.
