Southern Arizona Education Professionals and Municipal Workers Join Gabrielle Giffords’ Campaign for Change
CWA Local 7000 Endorses Giffords, Hails Her Record of Fighting for Working People
TUCSON - The men and women of the Communications Workers of America (CWA), Local 7000, have joined the broad coalition of working people who have endorsed Gabrielle Giffords’ campaign for a new direction in Washington. The local consists of Tucson Unified School District employees and City of Tucson employees, as well as employees with the City of Nogales.
“Gabrielle Giffords has a record of fighting for working people,” said Linda Hatfield, President of CWA Local 7000. “She sponsored a bill to increase the minimum wage, worked to promote health care for kids, and fought to improve funding for our schools. She has always been there for the people of Southern Arizona. We are proud to endorse Gabrielle Giffords because we know that in Washington she will continue to be an agent of positive change.”
“I believe we need a new direction in Washington — one that stands up for working people and not powerful interests,” Giffords said. “That’s why I appreciate the endorsement of the men and women of the CWA Local 7000, and look forward to working with them to promote the goals of our campaign: better schools, expanded health care, and better jobs.”
