LITTLE ROCK, AR - General Wes Clark today endorsed the candidacy of Gabrielle Giffords for Congress in Arizona’s 8th Congressional District. Gabrielle Giffords is a former State Senator and State Representative. She was the youngest woman ever elected to the Arizona Legislature.

“Southern Arizona is home to thousands of military families who deserve a partner in Washington who respects their daily challenges and sacrifices. That partner will be Gabrielle Giffords, whose common- sense, businesslike approach to pubic service is needed assure that our troops and veterans receive the care and attention they deserve. I am pleased to endorse her today.

“With a background in small business and public service, Gabrielle has a proven record of standing up for all Arizonans. She has worked to expand health care coverage for Arizona families, to create jobs for Arizonans, and to protect Arizona’s treasured landscape. Gabrielle Giffords believes in creating opportunity for all Americans to succeed. We need Gabrielle in Congress in order to establish progressive public policy in Washington and set a new direction in Washington.

“Now more than ever, leaders in Washington must represent the true interests of the American people. Gabrielle Giffords will fight tirelessly in Congress with the courage to make the difficult decisions necessary to lead our country in the right direction,” said General Clark.
