Jim Steinman

jim-steinman.jpgJim Steinman is Gabrielle Giffords’ November 2007 supporter of the month. He is originally from Nebraska, but now lives in Tucson with his significant other, Sally Hall, who is a fiber artist. He has a 16 year old named Jane, a 34 year old named Jenny, and two grandchildren. Jim went to school at the University of Nebraska for his BA and MA in Philosophy and later worked on his PHD for English Literature at The University of Indiana and The University of Wisconsin. He taught English Literature, but now operates and owns a local print shop, Action Printing. In his spare time he enjoys listening to classical music and playing tennis.

He got to know Congresswoman Giffords when they worked together on the Board of Directors for the Art District Partnership, he “admired her effectiveness,” he commented. It inspired him to get involved in her campaign. He has been active in politics, “for a very long time,” he jokes. He first started getting involved during the primaries of 1968.

Jim is worried about intelligence and fairness in politics today. “We haven’t had intelligence for eight years now,” he remarks about the presidency. He likes Gabrielle Giffords’ intensity, intelligence, and focus. He compliments that “Gabrielle defines what a good politician is by what she does.”
