Barbara Aguirre
Barbara Aguirre is Gabrielle Gifford’s July Supporter of the Month. Barbara is a former teacher and immigration attorney. She retired to Tucson five years ago from San Diego.
A lifelong Democrat, Barbara knows the importance of having strength in the party. “I wanted to do something to help change what’s going on in Washington and it made perfect sense to volunteer for Gabrielle,” she says. “I like her views and she’s so sharp. Plus, she’s a wonderful listener.”
Barbara began volunteering in June and has become one of the campaign office’s top phone bankers. “I’ve talked to a lot of people and it’s astonishing how many Republicans and Independents are endorsing Gabrielle. It’s a testament to her hard work and honesty.”
Although Barbara is in the office two to three times a week, she still finds time to write historical fiction. She recently finished a book on Hernando Cortez’s mistress and is now doing research on the Crypto-Jews, who came to the New World after the Inquisition.
