U.S. REP. GABRIELLE GIFFORDS COMMENDS TUCSON FESTIVAL OF BOOKS

Entry in Congressional Record honors second annual festival to be held this weekend
WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords has honored the 2010 Tucson Festival of Books with a commendation entered in the Congressional Record.
“The Tucson Festival of Books is a celebration of literacy and an opportunity for those of us who cherish books to meet the men and women who write them,” Giffords said in her statement. “It is, ultimately, a community’s recognition of the great value we place on the written word.”
The 2010 Tucson Festival of Books will be held Saturday and Sunday at the University of Arizona. The event is sponsored by the University of Arizona, the Arizona Daily Star and The Diamond Children’s Medical Center.
Giffords also praised the numerous volunteers who have worked to organize and run the festival. “On behalf of a grateful community, I thank and commend them for bringing us this incredible gift,” Giffords said in her statement..
With Giffords’ Congressional Record commendation, the significance of the Tucson Festival of Books will become a part of the permanent history of the U.S. House of Representatives.
