Please join me in wishing a very happy Mother’s Day to all of the great moms in our Cactus Roots community!

Whether it’s at a meal around the dining table or a phone call across the country, I hope this Mother’s Day brings you and your loved ones together to celebrate, laugh and enjoy time with one another.

Today, I am thinking about my mom, Gloria.  I am very much her daughter, and I am grateful for all of her love and support. My mom truly is my greatest inspiration.  Both my mom and dad instilled in me their values of hard work, treating others with dignity and respect and giving back, which have made me the person I am today.

I am also thinking about my mother-in-law, Patricia, who is an amazing woman.  She was one of New Jersey’s first female police officers and raised twin boys, Mark and Scott, who are both very special.

Finally, this Mother’s Day means a lot to me because it is my sister’s first Mother’s Day.  We are so proud of Melissa and her son, little Fraser James, who smiles like he is the happiest kid in Arizona.

Over the past three years, our Cactus Roots community has become a family, too. You all keep me grounded and going strong during even the toughest times. And we will need that strength this year, as we face our toughest challenge yet.

Moms, dads and all family members, if you have not yet had a chance to volunteer this year, the time to start is now. I hope you will join us on Saturday, May 15 for a Day of Action to help our Cactus Roots grow even stronger.

From Bisbee to Oro Valley, we will all come together across the district to make one final push to collect petition signatures before the May deadline. With fewer than six months until the election, we will need every single member of our Cactus Roots family to carry us to a strong finish.

Our Day of Action will start at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 15 with petition-gathering walks at locations across District 8. Once you sign up, you will be contacted by a member of the Cactus Roots family with the location of the walk closest to you.

In good times and in challenging ones, it is a pleasure to work side-by-side with each of you in our Cactus Roots family.

In closing, I hope that you and your moms, aunts, grandmothers, godmothers and the many other wonderful women in your life are blessed with a very happy Mother’s Day!
