Giffords for Congress raises nearly $600,000 in second quarter
Outpouring of support from across Arizona shows enthusiasm for Giffords’ work standing up for Southern Arizona and fighting for border security, local solar energy jobs and our servicemembers and veterans.
Today Giffords for Congress will report nearly $600,000 raised in the second quarter of 2010 and more than $2.2 million cash on hand, the results of an impressive grassroots fundraising effort that includes more than 3,200 Arizonans so far this cycle.
The report, which will be filed today with the FEC, is the latest demonstration of Southern Arizona’s strong and growing support for Gabrielle’s work. In May, Gabrielle’s grassroots signature collection effort set a record for the most petition signatures collected by a congressional campaign in Arizona history.
“Southern Arizonans overwhelmingly support Gabrielle’s hard work to secure the border, fight for our servicemembers and veterans and create solar energy jobs,” said Michael McNulty, Giffords for Congress campaign chairman.
“Political pundits can keep chattering about ‘national mood,’ but the reality here in District 8 is that Southern Arizonans are standing up and showing with the doors they knock, the calls they dial and the generous financial contributions they make that Gabrielle’s strong, independent voice is the one they want fighting for Southern Arizona in Congress.”
