Interested in Solar Energy?
Solar Power 101: A Community Education Series on Solar Energy begins with the first session from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Nov.28 at the Woods Memorial Branch Library, 3455 N. First Ave.
Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords will speak, along with Scott Johnson, senior outreach representative for Defenders of Wildlife. Homeowners can also learn about the basics of financing and installing a residential solar energy system.
The series runs through May and will feature monthly meetings on several solar-related topics at a different library each month. For more information, visit www.library.pima.gov.
Concerned about the Environment?
The Farm Bureau will host a town hall on the pending designation of 3,300 square miles of federal land as the Santa Cruz Valley National Heritage Area.
Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords sponsored legislation that the House of Representatives approved and is before the Senate. The bill would help promote and preserve the cultural and natural resources in the Santa Cruz Valley, including Tucson, Nogales, Sahuarita, Oro Valley and Marana.
The panel discussion will be held at 6 p.m., Tuesday Dec. 4 at Sahuarita High School auditorium, 350 W. Sahuarita Road.
