Don’t wear your boots, bring your tennis shoes

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

Dear Friend,

Gabrielle Giffords gets it. Arizona’s southern border is in trouble and she’s fighting every day to fix it.

Arizona Cattlemen's AssociationOn Saturday, I presented Gabrielle with an award from the Arizona Cattlemen’s Association recognizing her fight to secure our border. I told the ranchers gathered from across the state that if you go visit Gabrielle in Washington as I have, “Don’t wear your boots; take your tennis shoes if you’re going to keep up with her.  She goes like crazy.”

Holding Wall Street accountable

Thursday, July 22nd, 2010

Dear Friend,

As a businessman, I put a high priority on honesty, transparency and fair play. I support Gabrielle Giffords because she fights for these values every day.

Only 18 months ago, the recklessness and greed of some on Wall Street devastated the life savings of Southern Arizona families and seniors, caused record job losses and forced many Southern Arizona businesses to close their doors.

Yesterday, our country took a big step towards restoring economic fair play when the Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act became law. Gabrielle voted twice for these reforms that hold Wall Street accountable for its abuses, protect consumers and level the playing field in the market.

We are lucky to have Gabrielle on our side, taking on Wall Street greed and fighting for hardworking families and the honest businesses in our community.

Thank you, Gabrielle, for standing up for Southern Arizona families and fair play!

Sincerely,

Dr. Jeff Britt

President and CEO of Tucson-based Global Solar

I’d like to wish a very happy Father’s Day to all of the great Arizona dads. From caring for scraped knees and helping with homework to giving good advice and hugs when it’s needed most, thank you for all that you do and the many roles you play. I hope you enjoy the heartfelt homemade cards, coffee mugs and new ties that come your way today. You’ve earned them!

Cactus Roots Connector: Edition 50

Saturday, April 10th, 2010

Dear Friend,

March is such a wonderful time in our desert – and particularly this year! With the explosion of wildflowers everywhere, it has been a special time to celebrate family holidays and enjoy our brief days of spring.  With the bright colors and fragile blossoms, the flowers remind us of everything we value about our Sonoran Desert – its ability to come back through dry, harsh times and bring us a moment of quiet beauty.

Last month, in Congress, we made a difference for the millions of Americans who have struggled over the years without affordable health insurance. This was a tough battle – not unlike our Arizona summers – but we succeeded as a nation to affirm those great American values again with the passage of health care reform, strengthening and defending all of our citizens against a broken system. I was proud, with my vote, to help make this country a better place than it was before.

I saw many of you around the district over the past month: from the incredible second annual Tucson Festival of Books, to the viewing of the copy of the Declaration of Independence to the wonderful Founder’s Day in Marana.

I especially appreciated the multitude of expressions of support that I have received as the 2010 campaign picks up steam. Read below about some of the exciting things that have been going on this month – and then make sure to come on by and join our Cactus Roots team!

Sincerely Yours,

Gabrielle
